Roma have been turned down by Antonio Conte and Gian Piero Gasperini, so look to Marco Giampaolo, Roberto De Zerbi or Gennaro Gattuso.

The Giallorossi sacked Eusebio Di Francesco in March and brought in Claudio Ranieri as caretaker manager, but are finding it difficult to lock down a long-term replacement.

Conte was their first choice, but has just agreed terms with Inter, while Gasperini committed his future to Atalanta with a new three-year contract today.

According to news agency Ansa, Tuttomercatoweb, Sky Sport Italia and more, the next name on the list is Giampaolo, who has told Sampdoria he will walk away if they don’t work to aim for more than mid-table mediocrity.

Giampaolo has also been linked with the vacant job at Milan, where Gattuso terminated his contract by mutual consent this afternoon.

Curiously, Gattuso could even be on the radar for Roma, although Sky Sport Italia insist he will either want to go abroad or take a break rather than dive into another extremely stressful Milan-style situation with constant turnover at the top.

The latest candidate is Sassuolo Coach Roberto De Zerbi, who has clashed with patron Giorgio Squinzi over their poor defensive record this season.

Outside options include Sinisa Mihajlovic, who seems inclined to remain at Bologna, and former France Coach Laurent Blanc.
