The 39-year-old tactician has been linked with filling the vacant Coaching role at the capital club in recent days, especially after Gian Piero Gasperini decided to stay with Atalanta.

“I haven’t heard from Roma or anyone else for that matter,” De Zerbi told the TV Channel TRC.

“I’d like to stay here at Sassuolo. When I Coach, I work with the idea that I will stay 10 years in the same job. We had a good season and I’m under the impression that the club wants me to stay on.

“However, I will meet with President Giorgio Squinzi to decide the direction we want to take for next year. I too have needs, I need to know that we will look to improve.

“We must always think about doing better, that way we make the fans happy, but next season will be more difficult.”

The Emilia-Romagna side finished in 11th place in the Serie A table, however, a run of just two wins in their last 17 matches almost saw them involved in a relegation battle.

Patron Squinzi was very critical of De Zerbi after the season had concluded, warning he was “not entirely convinced” by his approach.
