Napoli are said to be in negotiations with Real Madrid to take James Rodriguez on loan with option to buy after his Bayern Munich spell.
According to Spanish paper As and Il Mattino in Italy, the player told Carlo Ancelotti that he would be very eager to make the move to the Stadio San Paolo.
Agent Jorge Mendes is already working on the terms of the deal, as James has no place at Real Madrid, even after his two-year loan with Bayern Munich at a cost of €13m.
The Germans had an option to buy for €42m, but have no intention of activating it.
According to Italian reporter Davide Russo de Cerame, Napoli would pay €4-5m for the loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
They’d also pay his salary, which is €6.5m per year plus performance-related bonuses.
James turns 27 next month and can play on either wing or as a trequartista behind the striker.
He contributed seven goals and six assists in 28 competitive games for Bayern this season.
Ancelotti already worked with the Colombian at Real Madrid and Bayern, where James scored 18 goals with 19 assists in 51 games under this Coach.
