Duvan Zapata has been linked with Inter and Napoli, but insists he is “dreaming of lifting a trophy with Atalanta. I want to stay here.”
The Colombia international was runner-up in the Capocannoniere charts with 23 Serie A goals, plus five between the Coppa Italia and Europa League preliminary rounds.
“I am dreaming of lifting a trophy with Atalanta,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I’m thinking about La Dea and I want to stay here. I’m very happy and we achieved an historic target with Champions League qualification. After such hard work, we can enjoy that happiness.”
This has been easily the most prolific campaign of the 28-year-old’s career.
“With Josip Ilicic and Papu Gomez, we are complete, among the top trident attacks out there.”
Now Atalanta can prepare for their first ever Champions League experience and Duvan Zapata doesn’t mind being in Pot 4.
“Anfield, the Bernabeu and Camp Nou are all special stadiums to play in, but we’ll fight it out wherever the draw takes us, regardless of the opponent.”
