Emerson Palmieri has advised Maurizio Sarri to stay at Chelsea but revealed that he would be ‘happy’ to work with Luciano Spalletti again.

Sarri has been heavily linked with taking over from Max Allegri at the Allianz Stadium this summer, and Tuttosport reports he could possibly be bringing Emerson with him.

The defender made just 27 appearances in all competitions for the Europa League winners last season as his Coach preferred to play Marcos Alonso for most of the campaign.

“I think Sarri should stay at Chelsea, but in football you just never know what will happen,” said the left-back at a Press conference while on Italy duty.

The 24-year-old was then asked about the newly-unemployed Spalletti, whom he worked under at Roma before his move to Stamford Bridge.

“I would be happy to work with Spalletti again, he is a fantastic Coach and a great person. I have much to thank him for.”

The Italo-Brazilian has two caps for the Azzurri and could possibly add to that tally in the coming weeks, with matches against Greece and Bosnia-Herzegovina in Euro 2020 qualifying coming up.

“We are a young team who want to win by playing attacking football. The mood in the camp is good, we’re creating a lot of chances, even if sometimes we don’t always take them. We’ll keep playing in an open way.

“One day I would like to return to Serie A, I first arrived in Italy when I was very young and my family loves the country, but for now I am happy at Chelsea.”
