Gianluigi Buffon is reportedly hoping to close his career with gold as Italy’s starting goalkeeper at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Buffon wants to be selected as one of Italy’s three players over the age of 23.
The former Juventus No 1 has already taken part at an Olympic tournament, acting as Gianluca Pagliuca’s deputy in 1996.
On that occasion, the Azzurri finished bottom of a group containing Mexico, Ghana and South Korea.
Corriere dello Sport, meanwhile, has added Atalanta to the list of possible destinations for the 41-year-old, who is a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
The Dea may need a new shot-stopper as Etrit Berisha is being linked with SPAL, and his experience in the Champions League could prove tempting.
