Wanda Nara said Mauro Icardi showed “courage” to choose her as his agent and she’d step aside if he asked, but insists her various other roles are “compatible.”

The Argentine TV personality was the cover star of French paper L’Equipe and their weekend magazine, titled ‘Atomic Blonde.’

“If one day Mauro were to ask me to stop being his agent, I’d do that,” assured the Inter forward’s wife.

“Being his wife and agent doesn’t necessarily say much about be, it says more about Mauro, who had to show a lot of courage to choose me.

“I became his agent because he often asked me for advice on decisions and contracts, then told me to do it myself. I never had a manager when I first started working, as I negotiated my own contracts. After school, I studied law and business, continuing to do that during my pregnancies.

“When (ex-husband and former Sampdoria striker) Maxi Lopez’s agent came to our home, I’d leave the room so that I wouldn’t disturb them, but straight after he’d ask me for advice.

“Being Mauro’s wife, I have no interest in making money behind his back, unlike others. In fact, I often gave up on my commission. I could just sit at home and do nothing, but that wouldn’t be a good example for my kids. Besides, the final decision is always Mauro’s.

Wanda has been particularly criticised for her other role as a regular on a TV football talk show, where she tends to blame some of Icardi’s Inter teammates for bad results.

“Other agents defend their client on TV, so whether I am his consultant or not, I maintain Mauro is one of the best strikers in the world.

“The fathers or brothers of agents often say incredible things and they have a different vocabulary to a mother or a wife. I think women are sexist too when they see other women talking about football, but I don’t expect different treatment, otherwise my role would lose importance.

“People attack me because it’s easy. All my other activities are perfectly compatible with being an agent, as I’ve done this work since I was very young and I see nothing wrong.

“What really matters is our private life, as Mauro and I have in truth a very boring lifestyle, far away from the VIP set. You’ll never see us out clubbing.”

Wanda was famously married to Maxi Lopez, who at the time was Icardi’s teammate at Sampdoria, and that prompted a scandal in Argentina and Italy.

“I was 26 years old when I divorced Maxi and was in Sicily, with two very young children. Divorce is frowned upon in Argentina, but I no longer trusted Maxi.

“Mauro became a friend, we confided in one another. We got together without even realising what was happening. He was six years younger than me, it seemed improbable, but he immediately told me that this wasn’t playing around, he wanted a serious relationship.

“He’s like a 40-year-old mind in a young body.”
