Sinisa Mihajlovic has committed his future to Bologna by signing a three-year contract. “I wanted Bologna because this is an ambitious club.”
It will run to June 2022 and reportedly be worth around €2m per season net.
“This is an important moment for our club,” President Joey Saputo told the official Bologna website.
“The deal with Sinisa is the basis for an ambitious technical project: we want to grow and I think the way to achieve that is to continue with men like Mihajlovic.
“Now we’ll work on the construction of a squad that can give our fans satisfaction.”
The Coach was brought in on January 28 with the Rossoblu stuck in the relegation zone after Pippo Inzaghi’s horrible start to the season.
He transformed their fortunes with nine wins, three draws and five defeats, including a run of seven consecutive home victories, for an impressive 10th-place Serie A finish.
“I am happy,” said Mihajlovic. “I wanted Bologna because this is an ambitious club, over the last few months we built a fantastic group and the fans always supported us.
“We are working perfectly in sync with the President and directors to reinforce the squad. There are the foundations to achieve great results.”
This is his second spell at the Stadio Dall’Ara, as his very first solo management job was here from November 2008 to April 2009.
The Serbian had also been linked with the roles at Juventus, Lazio and Sampdoria this summer, but decided to commit himself to the Rossoblu.
His previous jobs included Catania, Fiorentina, the Serbia national team, Sampdoria, Milan and Torino.
