Former Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is reportedly Porto’s No 1 choice to replace Iker Casillas.
Describing it as a transfer ‘bomb’, O Jogo cites a report in Tuttosport that claims Buffon could be headed for Porto.
According to the newspapers, the 41-year-old is ready to serve as the heir to Casillas for the Portuguese champions.
The former Real Madrid shot-stopper is expected to retire from football after suffering a heart attack last month.
The pair have long shared a rivalry for club and country, but it has been underpinned by a mutual respect.
Buffon, for his part, is a free agent after turning down Paris Saint-Germain’s offer of a new contract and had been linked with a return to Italy.
