“I can’t complain about my players, as they did very well and we had plenty of chances to achieve a positive result, especially when it was 0-0 and then 1-0,” said Prosinecki in his Press conference after a 2-1 defeat.
“It was meant to be easier once we took the lead, but that is football. Italy are a great team, you can’t afford to play badly against them even for a second. It’s disappointing that we weren’t able to come back with even a point.
“I don’t think there was much we could’ve done on the first goal, as Insigne scored a volley from the edge of the area. On the second goal, I do think our defenders did pretty well, it was just a very good move from Italy.
“We needed a point here and pushed as hard as we could, but Italy were stronger. The real disappointment was not giving our fans something to cheer, as 10,000 of them came to Turin for us.”
It was at least an advance from Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Finland, even if Bosnia are left with just four points from four Euro 2020 qualifiers.
“We played so badly in Finland. Games like that happen, but today we showed a different side to Bosnian football. Italy have an immense range of quality players, but they made mistakes and we proved we can fight it out with anyone.
“Greece lost to Armenia, so it’s all still open. We have two games coming up after the summer that we absolutely must win.”
