Italy could drop Cagliari captain Nicolo Barella for their European Under-21 Championship curtain-raiser against Spain this evening.

Tuttomercatoweb reports Luigi Di Biagio will go with Lorenzo Pellegrini, Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo in a three-man midfield, thereby affording no space to Barella.

Elsewhere, Alex Meret will get the nod over Emil Audero in goal, while an attacking trident of Federico Chiesa, Patrick Cutrone and Moise Kean is set to be unleashed.
