Maurizio Sarri seems closer than ever to Juventus after it was reported Chelsea had given guarantees to Frank Lampard.

Sarri’s move to Juve has been held up by Chelsea not being able to secure a replacement but, hot on the heels of Gianfranco Zola’s exit, there may finally be a breakthrough.

According to The Times, Chelsea owner Roman Abrahimovich called Lampard personally last week to tell him he would have ‘at least two transfer windows’ to prove his mettle.

Sarri’s move to Juve has been held up by Chelsea not being able to secure a replacement but, hot on the heels of Gianfranco Zola’s exit, there may finally be a breakthrough.

According to The Times, Chelsea owner Roman Abrahimovich called Lampard personally last week to tell him he would have ‘at least two transfer windows’ to prove his mettle.

That suggests the Englishman would be assured of at least two seasons in charge, given the Blues are currently serving a two-window transfer ban.

The newspaper adds the club plan to use the money from Juve for the ex-Napoli boss on releasing the 40-year-old from his Derby County contract.
