Il Messaggero claimed on Tuesday that Roma were considering taking Totti to court for defamation as his Press conference would have caused ‘irreparable damage’ to their image in Italy and abroad.

However, Pallotta tweeted: “Not a chance. 100% false.

“In the history of our ownership, that possibly takes the gold medal for the dumbest comment I’ve read.”

The American has yet to address the Lupi legend’s comments publicly, although he commissoned a club statement, which Vice-President Mauro Baldissoni later followed up.

The Giallorossi’s share price, meanwhile, has been restored to €0.50 after it dropped by a cent in wake of the controversy.
