Sampdoria reportedly hope to make Napoli winger Simone Verdi their first signing of the Eusebio Di Francesco era.
Although Di Francesco has yet to be officially appointed by Samp, that seems to be only a matter of time as he is already dictating the club’s transfer policy.
That is because, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the former Roma boss has personally requested Verdi to form part of his new-look side.
Napoli paid €24.5m for the 26-year-old only last summer, but he went on to start just nine Serie A games in 2018-19.
Di Marzio adds he could be sold to make way for new arrivals, while the Blucerchiati would have opened talks with the Partenopei on Tuesday.
