Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri believes ‘maybe it would’ve been better for Maurizio Sarri to stay’ but is not planning to follow him to Juventus.

Sarri delivered the Europa League and a third-place Premier League finish in his one and only season managing Chelsea but chose to return to Italy with Juve, while the Bianconeri have reportedly had a first bid for Emerson rejected.

“We had a great season,” the left-back told ESPN Brasil.

“For him, it was his first in England, in the Premier League, but we finished third, we won the Europa League and we reached the League Cup Final.

“I think he did a good job but maybe it’s like he said, that he wanted to return to Italy to be closer to his family.

“Perhaps it would’ve been better for him to stay. After a positive first season the second could’ve been even better, but there are personal reasons that led him to return to Italy and then he went to a big club like Juve.

“I’m happy here, I haven’t received any calls and I’m focused on Chelsea.”

The 24-year-old then revealed how Real Madrid new boy Eden Hazard left the Blues’ WhatsApp group.

“He wrote, ‘thank you guys, I love you.’ And then the words ‘Eden Hazard left the group’ appeared. It was strange.”
