Fiorentina have reportedly joined the race to sign for Empoli midfielder Ismael Bennacer.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Fiorentina’s new sporting director Daniele Prade wants Bennacer to fill the void left by Jordan Veretout, who is close to sealing a €23m move to Milan.
Empoli President Fabrizio Corsi confirmed on Tuesday that he had pulled the plug on a proposed switch to Napoli for the 21-year-old, leaving the door open to the Viola.
The Algerian moved to the Azzurri from Arsenal in 2017 for €1m and caught the eye in his debut Serie A campaign, providing three assists in 37 games.
Genoa and Olympique Lyonnais are also reported to be tracking him, and the paper claims a transfer to France should not be ruled out.
