Roma legend Aldair believes Kostas Manolas and Kalidou Koulibaly would form “one of the strongest defensive partnerships in Europe” at Napoli.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed he is in negotiations for Manolas, although he is not prepared to pay the Giallorossi centre-back’s €36m release clause.

“We all know how decisive Manolas has been over the years for Roma,” Aldair told TuttoNapoli.it.

“With Koulibaly, he’d form such a quick centre-back pairing, not to mention one of the strongest defensive partnerships in Europe. Koulibaly is better at passing it out from the back, while Manolas has more quality in front of goal when he goes up.

“I really like Koulibaly and if he has a quick defender like Manolas by his side, he can become even better. Of course, I hope for Roma’s sake that the move doesn’t happen.”
