Villarreal defender Daniele Bonera could retire this summer and return to Milan as an assistant to Marco Giampaolo.

The centre-back just turned 38 and his contract with Villarreal expires at the end of the month.

He has been in Spain since 2015, but spent nine years at San Siro and played 201 competitive games for the club.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bonera has been offered a role in new Coach Giampaolo’s staff.

Throughout his career, the defender also played for Brescia and Parma.
