Alberto Gilardino believes Patrick Cutrone should “move away from Milan” in search of the game time that would help him grow.

The 21-year-old scored in the Azzurrini's 3-1 win over Belgium in the European U21 Championship last night, but has failed to lock down a staring role with his club, starting just 12 Serie A games this season.

Both Torino and Fiorentina have recently been linked with the €25m-rated youngster.

“I would advise him to move away from Milan, as he would get more opportunities to play elsewhere,” Gilardino told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Cutrone could have a future far from Milan, somewhere he could find space and continuity and grow, with the idea that he could become an important player.

“He has improved this year, and he can play in a number of roles, he is young and already has a high price tag, but I think a move could suit him.”

The World Cup winner was asked about his thoughts on the other Rossoneri striker Krzysztof Piatek, who arrived in January from Genoa and scored 11 times in 21 appearances for the Diavolo, having already netted 19 in 21 games at Marassi.

“Whoever scored 30 goals in Italy should be rightly praised. He likes to play inside the box, just like me. However, working with a Coach like Marco Giampaolo could be the turning point in his career.

“He helped Fabio Quagliarella become the Capocannoniere this season, he helped others grow like Duvan Zapata, Patrik Schick, and Gianluca Caprari. With him, Piatek could reach the levels of Europe’s top strikers.”
