Napoli defender Raul Albiol has passed a medical with Villarreal ahead of his proposed return to Spain.

AS reports Albiol will formally sign for Villarreal in the next few days.

However, while the newspaper claims they will pay the €6m release clause in the 33-year-old’s contract, Superdeporte has the figure down at €4-5m.

The local publication also writes he has agreed a three-year deal with the Yellow Submarine, worth €2m a season after tax.
