Roma winger Stephan El Shaarawy has reportedly agreed to join Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua in an €18m deal.
According to Il Tempo, El Shaarawy has accepted Shenhua’s offer of €13m a year after tax after their Coach Quique Sanchez Flores helped convince him in a telephone conversation.
The newspaper adds they have all-but-negotiated a fee of €18m with Roma, €15m of which will go down as much-needed capital gains.
Despite running out as the Giallorossi’s top scorer in Serie A last season with 11 goals, the Italy international was about to enter the final year of his contract and talks over a renewal had stalled.
The 26-year-old should be joined out of the Olimpico soon by Edin Dzeko and Kostas Manolas as the Lupi have until June 30 to raise €45m.
