Fiorentina are close to Empoli midfielder Ismael Bennacer for €10m, with a contract worth €800,000 per season plus bonuses.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Viola are in pole position for the Algeria international, with €10m transfer fee and a five-year contract worth €0.8m per season net plus bonuses.
The Corriere dello Sport maintains David Hancko will also go to Empoli, most likely on loan, as part of the package.
Any deal will have to wait, as he is currently participating in the Africa Cup of Nations and making a good impression with his performances.
He provided three assists in 37 Serie A appearances for Empoli this season and Arsenal have a buy-back option, but do not seem intent on using it.
Milan have also been linked, but Fiorentina had already practically done a deal last month, delayed by the Viola takeover from Rocco Commisso.
