Milan target Dani Ceballos has confirmed that he will only accept a loan deal as a stepping stone to ‘succeeding’ at Real Madrid.

Milan are keen on bringing in Ceballos and would prefer to only sign him on a loan basis – something the Spain Under-21 midfielder suggested he was open to.

“When you have players like Toni Kroos or Luka Modric ahead of you, it’s very difficult for a 23-year-old to be an important player for Real Madrid,” Mundo Deportivo cited him as telling reporters.

“I’m clear on what I want. I know what my intentions are for next season. I don’t want to be sitting on a bench anymore.

“I believe my time has come. Next season is going to be my best. My intention is to play 40 games and feel important because I think I have football inside of me and I think I’ve shown that.

“At Madrid, there are 23 players and they have the best players in my position. In two seasons I’ve played 55 or 56 games.

“My intention is to feel important for a team and bring out all the football I have inside of me.

“I have four years left on my contract. I’m not contemplating an exit from Real Madrid, I want to succeed at Real Madrid.

“I don’t know when my time will come, but my objective is to succeed in Madrid and excite the Bernabeu. I think I have the quality to do that.

“I’m not going to evaluate if each team are an option. Football is so beautiful that anything can happen.”

Finally, he praised Fabian Ruiz for choosing to stick with Napoli, despite speculation of a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Fabian is growing in leaps and bounds right now. A move to Madrid would be complicated for him because they already have top players.

“He should stay at Napoli and keep growing. It’s not that I wouldn’t recommend him to leave, but I think he should keep growing at his club so he continues to be important for both Napoli and the national team.”
