Napoli have put Fenerbahce talent Eljif Elmas at the top of their midfield wish-list, claim Sky Sport Italia, with Bologna’s Erick Pulgar in second place.
Negotiations with Real Madrid for James Rodriguez are progressing well, so the attention now turns to the middle of the park for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the tactician has put Elmas as first choice.
The Macedonia international turns 20 in September, but already has two goals and 11 senior caps under his belt.
He was picked up from Rabotnicki for just €180,000 in 2017 and his value on the transfer market is now in the region of €15-20m.
Elmas was also linked with Milan, Inter, Fiorentina, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid, but Napoli seem to be pushing to the front of the queue.
An alternative is Bologna’s Chile international Pulgar, who has a €15m release clause in his contract.
