Milan are reportedly hoping to make it a trio of midfielders in Rade Krunic, Jordan Veretout and Ismael Bennacer.

Gazzetta dello Sport and Sportitalia claim Milan have offered €13m plus Lucas Biglia and Diego Laxalt for Veretout, despite being close to a breakthrough for Empoli’s Bennacer.

However, while La Gazzetta claims Biglia and Laxalt have both been tabled to Fiorentina, Sportitalia is adamant the Rossoneri are only willing to part-exchange the Argentine.

The Rossoneri are competing with Roma, who would have already bid €18m and put a €3m salary to the Frenchman.

The Viola announced earlier on Thursday that the 26-year-old wanted to leave, while Sportitalia does not expect him to return to the club for preseason.

Meanwhile, the broadcaster reports Milan could soon wrap up a deal for Bennacer worth €15m following a sudden push for the Algerian.

He would be the second Empoli midfielder to arrive at San Siro after teammate Krunic, who has already passed a medical.

New boss Marco Giampaolo is known for his use of a 4-3-1-2 formation, so a healthy supply of midfielders is a must.
