Milan and Roma are both reportedly considering moves for Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz.

According to Tuttosport, Milan are ‘continuing to monitor’ Mariano after he too was discussed during the Boban-Maldini meeting with Madrid last month.

However, the Rossoneri could face competition from Roma, with AS claiming he is in their sights.

The 25-year-old returned to Madrid in a €23m deal last summer after a 21-goal campaign for Olympique Lyonnais.

The 25-year-old returned to Madrid in a €23m deal last summer after a 21-goal campaign for Olympique Lyonnais.

He was given the No 7 shirt, made vacant by Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus, but scored just four times in 19 appearances during the previous campaign.

Mariano has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, as a backup for Harry Kane.

Although the Lupi would have already expressed their interest for the player, it is warned their desire to take him on loan clashes with Los Blancos’ will to sell him for much-needed funds, which will go towards a new midfielder.
