Atalanta wing-back Timothy Castagne is in advanced negotiations for a €20m move to Crystal Palace, according to Sportitalia.
The Orobici had not wanted to part with the Belgian, but if the bid is improved with bonuses to reach €25m, then a deal can be done.
Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà maintains talks are progressing well and there could be a breakthrough next week.
Castagne is a 23-year-old right-back who plays in a wide midfield role as part of Atalanta’s 3-4-1-2 system.
He was signed from KRC Genk for €6m in 2017, so would represent a huge profit.
The Belgian scored five goals and provided five assists in 37 competitive appearances last term.
Napoli had also been interested in Castagne, but not prepared to meet the €25m asking price.
