Milan have reportedly given up on Gedson Fernandes after being told the Benfica midfielder will cost €30m plus bonuses.
The Rossoneri had shown interest in the 20-year-old and Sky Sport Italia noted they had made enquiries.
However, both A Bola and Record in Portugal maintain the asking price of €30m plus add-ons scared Milan off.
They never took the matter further and are now looking at other transfer targets instead.
Gedson Fernandes already has two senior caps for Portugal and scored three goals with six assists in 46 competitive appearances last season.
