Fox Sports has made the shock claim that Argentina have been invited to the next Nations League.
Argentina finished third at Copa America, but their run was marred by Lionel Messi accusing CONMEBOL of engineering a Brazil victory through favourable officiating.
With that in mind, Fox Sports Argentina is now reporting the Albiceleste have an invitation to play in the Nations League.
However, they can only participate in the tournament if they opt out of the next Copa America in 2023.
The Nations League is a European competition, introduced by UEFA last year as an alternative to international friendlies.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal won the inaugural edition, beating Netherlands 1-0 in the Final last month.
Argentina’s entry would not only see several Serie A players feature but also reignite the rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo.
