Stefano Sensi believes he can be Inter’s very own Xavi Hernandez and that he made ‘the best choice’ rejecting Milan for the Nerazzurri.

Sensi’s playing style has been likened to the Barcelona icon, and the 23-year-old is ready to inject some ‘tiki taka’ into Antonio Conte’s new-look Inter.

“It’s as I imagined it,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’m starting a new life, but it’s like I’ve always been here. My idol has always been Xavi.

“He’s like family to me: I grew up watching his games, I took things from his showreels.

“There’s something about his kind of football in my game. I’ve always been a Barcelona fan and I hope I face them in the Champions League.

“I think a winning mentality has been missing, and in that sense Conte can be a turning point. I think Inter have everything to start winning again this season.”

The former Sassuolo midfielder was then asked about interest from Milan and the possibility of linking up with Italy teammate Nicolo Barella at San Siro.

“I made the best choice coming here, and these first few days have already confirmed that. I’d also love Barella to join me here.”
