President Urbano Cairo confirms Torino will play their first Europa League game in Alesssandria, while they prefer Andrea Belotti to Mauro Icardi.
The Granata were promoted into the Europa League preliminary rounds after Milan were excluded due to Financial Fair Plain violations.
As there is a concert the same day of the first leg, that will be played in nearby Alessandria, a club currently in Serie C.
“It’s true, the first game will be played in Alessandria. It’s really disappointing, especially for our fans, that we cannot begin the season in the Stadio Grande Torino, but we wouldn’t have time to fix the pitch after summer concerts.
“There will be fewer fans at Alessandria, but they’ll still cheer us on.”
Cairo also spoke about the transfer market and the possibility of signing Inter striker Icardi.
“We will bring in two new players, one of them possible starting the match. Belotti is an important player, he is our captain. Icardi is an excellent centre-forward, but we already have Il Gallo and are hanging on tight.
“It’s important to maintain the squad, as the team is ready and there is no haste to bring in new players.”
