The Corriere dello Sport claims Sinisa Mihajlovic might have to leave his job as Bologna Coach to deal with a serious illness.

According to Saturday’s edition of the newspaper, Mihajlovic recently had tests and medics warned he should go ahead with aggressive treatment.

This would take a lot out of the Serbian tactician and he would not feel ready to continue working in these circumstances.

He will either make a statement or hold a Press conference on Saturday to explain the situation.

The 50-year-old had only taken the job from Pippo Inzaghi in late January, but transformed their fortunes, moving Bologna from the depths of the relegation zone to a 10th-place Serie A finish.

He was convinced to sign a new contract to June 2022, but if the Corriere dello Sport reporting is to be believed, Mihajlovic will have to cut this experience short and focus on more important matters outside of football.

‘Miha’ spent most of his career in Italy, arriving for Roma in 1992 and going on to play for Sampdoria, Lazio and Inter.

After his retirement in 2006, he immediately began working as Roberto Mancini’s assistant manager with the Nerazzurri.

He broke out on his own in November 2008 with Bologna, followed by experiences with Catania, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Milan, Torino and Bologna.

Mihajlovic was also the manager of the Serbia national team from May 2012 to November 2013, while he signed for Sporting CP last summer only to be fired within days after a change of President.
