Inter are reportedly preparing to make an improved offer of £60m (€66.5m) plus bonuses for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.

According to Sky Sports and ESPN, the fee would be paid in two or three instalments and Inter are keen to wrap up a deal now so United have enough time to sign a replacement.

That is because the English transfer deadline shuts on August 9 as opposed to the end of next month.

It now remains to be seen whether the bid convinces the Red Devils to come down from their valuation, which Sky claims exceeds £79m (€87.5m).

Lukaku remains the Nerazzurri’s primary No 9 target, despite negotiations having stalled.
