Former Atalanta winger Emiliano Rigoni is on the verge of a return to Italy with Sampdoria.
ANSA reports Zenit St Petersburg have given Rigoni the green light to join Samp on a €1m loan with an €11m obligation to buy if plays a certain number of games.
However, the agency notes Zenit will only release him once they find a replacement.
The 25-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at Atalanta and scored a brace against Roma on his Serie A debut, before claiming he rejected Juventus.
He returned to Russia after the Dea ended their agreement, in turn passing up their €15m option to buy.
The Blucerchiati’s pursuit of the Argentine could see them abandon their interest in Napoli attacker Simone Verdi, clearing the way for Torino.
