Roma have officially signed Atalanta defender Gianluca Mancini on loan with conditional obligation to buy for €15m plus bonuses and 10 per cent sell-on fee.
“Being a player at such a prestigious club as Roma is reason to be proud and repays me for many years of sacrifices that began when I first started playing football,” Mancini told Roma TV.
“I can’t wait to start this new adventure.”

The news was confirmed in a statement from the Giallorossi, who being floated on the stock exchange must give very precise details on their transfers.
“Roma have signed Gianluca Mancini from Atalanta until June 30 2020. The agreement includes a cost of €2m for the loan, obligation to buy at €13m, on the condition of certain sporting situations, as well as a variable set of bonuses up to a maximum of €8m.
“In addition, in case of future transfer for the player, Roma will owe Atalanta 10 per cent of the sale price, in excess of the money already earned in terms of fixed transfer fee and variables.
“The player has signed a contract to June 30, 2024.”
Mancini is a 23-year-old centre-back who has two senior caps for Italy.
He came through the Fiorentina youth academy originally, then was sold to Perugia for €150,000 in 2016 and Atalanta bought him for double that sum just six months later.
“Gianluca’s arrival allows us to add a young and technically very gifted player to our defensive line,” added director of sport Gianluca Petrachi.
“I am happy to put at the disposal of Coach Paulo Fonseca a lad who is so dedicated to hard work and is eager to improve himself.”
