Galatasaray made a last-ditch bid for Ismael Bennacer, it’s reported, but the Empoli midfielder kept his promise to Milan.
The 21-year-old Algeria international’s profile has shot up since the Africa Cup of Nations, where he was named Player of the Tournament.
He flew in briefly for a medical with the Rossoneri and agreed the contract, although it is not yet official.
According to Soccerlink in France, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla and Olympique Lyonnais were trying until the end to intercept.
Galatasaray went even further, stated the same source, suggesting they made a last-ditch bid to scrap the €16m deal.
However, Bennacer had already given his word to Milan and refused to break the pledge.
