Speculation is rife that Neymar is looking for a way out of PSG, and he would have even sounded out Juventus as a possible destination if a return to Barcelona proves unattainable.

Verratti, for his part, was denied a move to Barca in 2017, forcing his agent to claim at the time that he was being held hostage by the Emir of Qatar.

“When a player really wants to be sold, the club should let them go, by mutual agreement with the conditions imposed by the club, of course,” he told RMC Sport.

“However, you can’t keep a player who wants to leave.”

Despite that, the Brazilian remains the club’s record signing and highest profile, with 51 goals in just 58 games.

“I’d certainly hate to see him leave,” admitted the 26-year-old.

“I’ve never heard him say that he wants to leave. I don’t know what he’s said to the club, but personally I’d prefer him to stay.”
