Torino cruised into the Europa League third qualifying round after a 4-1 victory over Hungarian side Debrecen on Thursday.
The first leg ended 3-0 for the Granata with goals from Cristian Ansaldi, Andrea Belotti and Simone Zaza, but Iago Falque, Lyanco, Sasa Lukic and Ola Aina didn’t make the trip to Hungary.
Coach Walter Mazzarri had urged his men to forget that result and go for the win here too, so it was a very aggressive start from Toro.
Zaza saw a scuffed effort deflected wide, then moments later Belotti went around the on-rushing goalkeeper to set up Zaza for a tap-in, but Kusnyir made a goal-line clearance.
The goal arrived eventually, Soualiho Meite setting up Zaza to drill into the bottom corner left-footed after a dummy sent a defender to ground.
Armando Izzo doubled the Granata’s advantage after a corner, when Alex Berenguer threaded through for Ansaldi, who rolled across for Izzo’s tap-in.
There was some bad news on the stroke of half-time, as Daniele Baselli went off following a collision, replaced by Tomas Rincon.
Haruna Garba then pulled one back for Debrecen shortly after the restart, but goals from Belotti and substitute Vincenzo Millico restored order.
Toro will face the winner of Shakhtyor Soligorsk-Esbjerg in the next round of qualifying.
