Sampdoria have released Rafael, freeing the goalkeeper up for a move to EFL Championship side Reading.
Samp confirmed on their official website that Rafael’s contract had been terminated by mutual consent.
The Brazilian only joined the Blucerchiati from Napoli last summer but went on to make just four appearances in all competitions.
The 29-year-old now looks set for Reading, who recently signed Lucas Boye from Torino.
