Atalanta have approached former Fenerbahce defender Martin Skrtel, claim Sky Sport Italia, to bring Champions League experience.
The 34-year-old is a free agent after his contract with Fenerbahce expired, having spent most of his career at Liverpool from 2008 to 2016.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Skrtel is in talks with Atalanta to join Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad.
The Orobici finished third in Serie A last season and reached the Coppa Italia Final, but this will be their first ever campaign in the Champions League.
Skrtel would bring valuable experience and a mature figure in the three-man defence, helping an overall young team to develop.
