Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has called for calm after complaining ‘there’s too much James Rodriguez talk and I don’t know anything about Hirving Lozano.’

Napoli lost 2-1 to Barcelona last night – their first defeat in preseason – but Ancelotti was encouraged by how his side matched the Spanish champions for large parts.

“I liked the team, the lads played with character, in line with what we showed in our previous friendlies against Liverpool and Marseille,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We were facing a team who we all know about and who have a lot of quality. If you’re not organised against them, you concede.

“Still, we were effective and managed to maintain the rhythm in our dribbling. We probably had more chances than Barca.

“We’ll play another game on Saturday and we’re confident that we can do well again against a great team.”

James and Lozano have emerged as the Partenopei’s top transfer targets, but progress has been slow…

“There’s too much talk about James and I don’t know anything about Lozano, but the market closes at the end of August so let’s wait and see what’ll happen.”
