Galatasaray Coach Fatih Terim takes on Fiorentina tomorrow and admits the Viola “are always in my heart. I still prefer Enrico Chiesa to Federico, though!”
The Turkish tactician is in Italy for tomorrow’s friendly between Galatasaray and Fiorentina.
“I always get emotional when I return to Florence,” Terim told Tuttomercatoweb.
“Along with Fiorentina and the Viola fans, we did such great things together and played some beautiful football. I always have wonderful memories of this city.”
He turns 66 next month and only had a brief spell on the Stadio Artemio Franchi bench, from July 2000 to February 2001, then an even shorter stay at Milan from July to November 2001, managing only 13 games.
Enrico Chiesa scored 16 goals in 22 competitive games for Fiorentina under Terim, but tomorrow son Federico will be lining up for the Tuscans.
“Federico is a very strong player. I watched him play many times on television and once live in the stands at the Stadio Franchi. Chiesa is a player I really like, but I still prefer his father! Here’s hoping the son manages to surpass his father.”
It is a very new Fiorentina now, with Italian-American President Rocco Commisso ending a 17-year Della Valle reign.
“I don’t know Rocco Commisso yet, but I did know the Della Valle brothers. I wish Fiorentina all the very best for this season, because they are always in my heart.”
