Giuntoli: 'Some Napoli targets still secret'

Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli admits interest in Everton Soares and James Rodriguez, but also warns “some names haven’t hit the headlines.”

The Partenopei faced Barcelona in Ann Arbor this evening for the second game in the inaugural La Liga-Serie A Cup, but the focus for the media remained the transfer market. With both Napoli and Barca looking for trophies this season, tips on the best betting strategy for the campaign can be found here

Giuntoli was asked by Sky Sport Italia if Neymar going to Real Madrid could open the door for James to Napoli.

“We are vigilant and if there are any opportunities that arise, we won’t let them get away from us,” replied the director of sport.

“We are happy with the team, as we brought in Kostas Manolas, Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Eljif Elmas, so that’s a good transfer market.

“It’s also true to say that there are some names we are discussing, but who haven’t yet hit the headlines. Napoli must always dream and we are keeping a close eye on any situations that allow us to add useful players.

“We are looking for a striker who is capable of sparking a counter-attack very quickly. James is one of those players, but there are others too.”

Giuntoli was asked about Napoli interest in Gremio and Brazil star Everton Soares.

“Every negotiation has its difficulties.”
