However, the 22-year-old played just 42 times for the Giallorossi in three-and-a-half seasons and recently returned to Brazil with Flamengo.
“Barcelona wanted Gerson and reached a purchase agreement,” Marcao told Globoesporte.

“Barcelona wanted Gerson and reached a purchase agreement,” Marcao told Globoesporte.
“That was until I checked into the Fluminense offices one day and their President told me Roma had made a special offer, a ‘magic’ one.
“He told me that the club were in financial difficulty, with some people not even being paid.
“I then went to meet them and accepted their offer. Now I’m much more experienced and I probably wouldn’t do it again.”
