Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac has defended his side’s capture of Inter winger Ivan Perisic. “It’s as if he isn’t a good player.”
Perisic is joining Bayern on loan with an option to buy, but sections of the German giants’ support are unhappy their team have gone in for a player who is surplus to requirements at Inter and is now the wrong side of 30.
“I can confirm he was in Munich today,” Kovac told reporters.
“However, I think the criticism of him is out of place. It’s as if he isn’t a good player.
“[Stefan] Effenberg also came here when he was 30 years old and led the team to the Champions League.
“We must stop looking only at age, look at what these lads have achieved so far and see how they can help us now.”
