Roma midfielder Steven Nzonzi could be convinced by a move to Turkey, claim Sky Sport Italia, but only for Galatasaray and not Fenerbahce.
According to the latest reports from the Italian satellite station, there is one very specific reason why Nzonzi would be prepared to join one Turkish club and not another.
That is Galatasaray are in the Champions League, whereas Fenerbahce are not.
It is still early days, as Fatih Terim’s Galatasaray have only just approached Roma and the French midfielder, whereas Fenerbahce had been ready to match his €3m plus bonuses salary.
The 30-year-old was purchased from Sevilla a year ago for €26m plus bonuses, but is just one of several buys completed by former director of sport Monchi that the Giallorossi are now trying to reverse.
Nzonzi made 39 competitive appearances for Roma last season, contributing one goal and two assists, but never quite settled into Serie A life.
