Zidane: James in Madrid plans

Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Napoli target James Rodriguez is in his Real Madrid plans. “He’s fit and I’m glad he’s in the squad.”

James struggled to catch a break during Zidane’s first tenure as Madrid boss and spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich.

He chose not to make his spell permanent and was expected to join Napoli, but Los Blancos’ failure to sign Paul Pogba has seemingly kept the midfielder in Spain.

“He’s fit and I’m glad he’s in the squad,” replied the Coach when asked about the 28-year-old.

“I’m happy with my players and focused, like them, on the first game. I have the best players already, I have no doubts about that.

“Paul is a Manchester player and you have to respect that.”

The Colombian is particularly valued by the club’s President Florentino Perez, who splashed out €76m to bring him in five years ago.
