That is because the capital club are only offering a season-long loan with an option to buy, whereas the 25-year-old wants that option to be compulsory.

The newspaper adds he was not given the ‘necessary guarantees’ after they only proposed to buy him obligatorily if they qualified for the Champions League.

With that in mind, the coast now seems clear for Monaco to close a deal for Rugani.
