Franck Ribery has revealed that ‘Luca Toni told me Fiorentina were a great club’ after landing to complete his free transfer.
Ribery touched down in style, travelling in a private jet with wife Wahiba before being greeted by hundreds of Fiorentina fans, and the 36-year-old admits his former Bayern Munich teammate played a key role in his move.
“I’m happy, I’m here with my family,” he told Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.
“I’ve talked to Fiorentina for the past week, as well as with Toni, who told me Fiorentina were a great club in a beautiful city.
“I’m happy because I like being here, even the language. My grasp of it isn’t perfect, but it’s all good.”
The Frenchman will sign a two-year contract with the Viola and will be presented tomorrow at 20:00 BST.
