Luca Pellegrini believes Cagliari are the ‘ideal’ team for him at this stage of his career after returning from Juventus.
Pellegrini moved to Juve from Roma earlier in the summer but will spend the upcoming season back at Cagliari, where he ended the previous campaign.
“We all came together and I made the decision to continue playing for Cagliari, who are the ideal club for me right now. It’s hard to find a better one,” explained the Italy Under-20 left-back at his official unveiling.
“I had alternatives, but I didn’t want to hear about them: for me, Cagliari are a family. I already knew that I could come back.
“We often talked before coming here, and he told me the same things he had told me in January, namely to accept this offer right away.
“I never thought I’d be in a dressing room with Radja again and I didn’t expect him to come back so soon. Radja has shown himself to be very close to these colours.
“I watched the team against Chievo on Sunday. Except for Radja, I didn’t know the new signings personally and I’ll only be able to pass a judgment on them once I start working with them every day.
“My teammates are playing with the same mentality as they did last season and that’s excellent because with so many new faces, it’s never easy.
“A great team are being built and Cagliari can have some fun with a little luck this season.”
The 20-year-old then spoke of his admiration for Coach Rolando Maran.
“If Maran wants me to, I’ll even play in goal. Where I play is irrelevant.”
